The main role of the LIPM workshop is the up-keep and maintenance of the LIPM equipment and facilities. The principal tasks of the service are to deal with breakdowns and repairs, to supervise the necessary safety inspections of major equipment (e.g. autoclaves), to oversee the organisation of shared laboratory facilities and to establish a preventative program of maintenance.
The workshop also provides a service to members of the research unit who request the construction of specialized pieces of equipment (e.g. aeroponic growth chambers).
