Le consortium international en génomique du tournesol (ICSG, International Consortium on Sunflower Genomics) coordonné par LIPME-INRAE Occitanie-Toulouse, réunissant la France, le Canada, les Etats-Unis et l’Israël, ainsi que 8 partenaires privés, est lancé pour une durée de 4 ans. L’ICSG a pour objectif de caractériser la diversité génétique du tournesol en séquençant de nouveaux génomes de tournesol sauvages. Ces ressources permettront de comprendre la structure des génomes et leur évolution ce qui facilitera l’utilisation des ressources génétiques de tournesols sauvages pour la sélection variétale.
THEMES DE RECHERCHE
L’ICSG réunit les principaux acteurs internationaux de la communauté académique d’une part et les entreprises de biotechnologie et de semences d'autre part.
Il va permettre de :

séquencer et comparer les génomes de nouveaux génotypes de tournesol et d’espèces sauvages.
-
développer et caractériser les ressources génétiques
-
produire un atlas des gènes impliqués dans la réponse au stress
-
rendre les ressources génomiques disponibles grâce au développement et au soutien d'outils bioinformatiques.
Il sera alors possible de comparer les génomes et ainsi mettre en évidence les différences (notamment structurales) pour améliorer la résistance des variétés cultivées aux bioagresseurs ou aux stress abiotiques.
